Mommy's Little Helper

I typically do minimal house work during Carly's waking hours. I will put dishes away, dust, or work on laundry during her spurts of independent play. I have tried to sweep, especially when Jake brings in a coat full of leaves from our backyard; however, Carly always takes the broom away from me and starts to sweep herself. Unfortunately, she is too short to use the broom successfully. So, today I got the idea to use a swifter for a few moments instead. Why I thought this would be different, I don't know. Immediately, she came and took it away from me. That was when I realized - the swifter pole consists of 5 pieces, three of which are the exact same size to give the pole its height. I removed two of those pieces and VOLA, Carly was able to use the Swifter successfully. She dusted the floor in our kitchen and breakfast room at many different points throughout her day. She also dusted the coffee table, sofa, and rugs. Hopefully she will continue to want to help me more and more, especially since her naps are gradually getting shorter and shorter (and to think eventually there will be NO nap time).

  1. Yes, let's encourage joy of dusting and cleaning. Samuel still does the mopping via crawling. Love, Aunt Bubble
