Two Peas in a Pod

Dave resurrected my mom's computer on Sunday night. As a result we currently we have three computer monitors and three key boards across our two desks (which are now side by side). Today while Dave was uploading pictures to our photo site (http://www.davidandsharonorr.com/) Carly was sitting on his lap "helping". You can see her hitting the keys on a keyboard while watching the monitor. There were moments when she was really working/typing hard on the keyboard. She and her daddy are definitely two peas in a pod!

Chunky Monkey (UPDATED)

David has affectionately been calling Carly "chunky monkey" since she was born. I find this quite ironic since she is in the 25th - 50th percentile for weight (who would have thought he and I would have a skinny baby). However, I will say that today this nick name was quite fitting. She had five milk feedings (she typically has six, but the night is still young... I predict a sixth in our future) and 2 tablespoons of rice cereal around breakfast time, a tablespoon of sweet potatoes around lunch time, and just under a tablespoon of avocado around dinner time. CHUNKY MONKEY!!

Although she may just be going through a growth spurt or needed extra nutrition after a busy day of going to an Easter Egg Hunt and visiting with a few of her "older" (as in 3 years old) friends in the neighborhood. :-)

**UPDATE** - She did wake up for that 6th feeding at 3:45am. It is a good thing her mommy is a light sleeper, Dave didn't even hear her over the monitor.

Cell Phone

Carly was given a toy cell phone from my dad at my baby shower. Recently she has been interested in our cell phones. We tend to put the phone on speaker phone so that whom ever we are talking can potentially hear her cooing, singing, etc. This then sparks her curiosity. This evening David opened her toy cell phone and Carly became interested in the idea that if she hit a button at tune would play or the phone would sound like it was dialing someone. This then intrigued her even more. Lucky for us we don't have to worry about her using up all of our cell phone minutes; however, we do need to be aware of where our cell phones are at all times in relation to her - just to make sure she doesn't call Julia in Oxford too often! :-)

Too Funny!!

I love living in a neighborhood full of kids!! Friday David, Carly, Jake, and I were out on a walk (which didn't go for very far because we kept stopping and talking to friends in the neighborhood) when we saw a group of the younger neighborhood kids having a playdate in a cul-de-sac. As we approached the cul-de-sac our neighbor (who turns 4 in a few weeks) spotted us! He immediately begins to run in the opposite direction screaming... "David and Sharon are coming, David and Sharon are coming, and Baby Carly too!! David and Sharon and Baby Carly are coming!!" I felt like a royal family.

Then on Saturday we were walking up to a neighbor's house to celebrate their twins 3rd birthday. Our same neighbor began to announce Baby Carly's arrival again. "Baby Carly is coming, Baby Carly is coming..." Luckily for her the birthday twins also thought she was special enough to receive an announcement and began helping in making sure everyone knew Baby Carly was coming to celebrate their birthdays with them.

(Our next door neighbor who adores Carly and Jake also made a cute response when out of town on a ski trip. During the trip someone asked where he lived, his response - "Next to David and Sharon, and Baby Carly too!! AND Will tell his parents to be quiet at night because Baby Carly is sleeping!! Kids are SOOOO cute!!)

We need a weekend from our weekend...

We had a fabulous first weekend of Spring; however, it was BUSY!!

Our first morning of spring began with Matthew's 3rd Birthday celebration. It was a fantastic chance for us to celebrate with Matthew and introduce Carly to the whole Klausman clan. Based on Matthew's energy level throughout the entire party I would infer that he had a wonderful time celebrating with friends and family, and Carly refused to nap - so I would infer that she was having a wonderful time celebrating with Matthew. What else can you ask for?

Afterwards, Carly napped on our trip home. Once we arrived she ate and geared herself up for another 3rd Birthday celebration. The twins who live on our street were out in full force with various friends celebrating away. So when Carly was ready we joined in on their festivities too.

Unfortunately we weren't able to stay at this party until Carly was ready to nap again, we had yet another stop to make in our day. Dave had volunteered to help a friend carry some awkward furniture, so we ventured over there. Luckily for Dave our friend found an available neighbor earlier in the day; however, it did give us a chance to visit and Carly a chance to be loved on by Mrs. Nydish.

Thankfully Sunday was much more relaxed and just as enjoyable. Miranda and Sarah came down to visit and for a playdate. At the moment the two girls don't interact too much. There were the occasional staring contests, baby cooing/singing (think Look Who's Talking), playing beside one another, but not a lot of interaction between the two. However, at the very end of our time together their hands did find one another on the quilt and they held hands. It was priceless!!



While we may be tired, this weekend was just the beginning of a wonderful, fantastic, BUSY spring!!

Almost the First Day of Spring

It was close enough in the Orr household for Carly to break out the hat and shades and wear her first short sleeves dress for the year. She seemed to like it and kicked off her socks for the day too.
