It's a Girl

In honor of the news, I picked a slightly more feminine blog layout.  If you haven't guessed by now, we are having a baby girl.

Pictures to follow, but at the moment, she is very active, and roughly 10 oz.  Also, she is being calculated to be about 19 weeks 5 days.

Yes, she is mooning you :)

T-23 Hours

We are in the final countdown on the big question. What is "Itty" Place your bets, and hopefully we will know by this time tomorrow.

Memorial Day

The weekend has basically been a wash out. We have had off and on rain for the past three days. Dave was able to get out on the boat for a few minutes today while I was at school participating in field day with my kids. All of this rain has given ample opportunity to talk to Itty and cause "baby quakes." It has also given us a chance to get very anxious about Friday's visit for an ultrasound. Hopefully Itty will cooperate and let us know if it is a little girl or boy. :-)

Doctor's Appointment

Itty and I had our 16 week check-up today! Our little avocado is now beginning to grow into an onion (we've reached vegetable stage!) now. Everything at the doctor's office was fine. The doctor I was supposed to see was in delivery, so after waiting about 90 minutes another doctor was able to squeeze me in. The biggest draw back of today's visit was that by the time I was sent to the lab the lab technician were gone, and the nurses had difficulty finding my veins. Many pokes and band aids later, I was sent home and asked to return on Monday afternoon to be seen by a lab technician.

Fruit...

It amazes me the things you can find on the Internet about pregnancy. I get a weekly update about the size of "Itty," and how he/she is developing. The best part is that the size of the fetus is compared to fruit. Throughout this week my lime turned into a lemon and is beginning to transition into an avocado. A lot of the women who read this website joke about the analogies causing food cravings.

I am luckily not falling to these cravings; however, the non fiction stories my kids are reading to prepare for testing are leading to cravings. Yesterday, the kids were reading about seaweed as a snack in Japan and it led me straight to a Spider Crab Roll for dinner last night.

EMMY AWARDS

Each year CMS puts on a huge awards ceremony to recognize outstanding teachers. This year my school had a lot of its teachers honored on this special evening. I was recognized with an EMMY for my work with English Language Learners and planning lessons with their needs in mind. This ceremony was actually quite interesting - they used high school students to really make you feel like a star. Drama students were standing on bleachers and cheering as teachers entered the building via a red carpet. As we walked down the red carpet there were also photography students snapping your picture and yelling for you to look their way. As we entered building, there was a jazz band playing, dance students performing, and culinary students serving various foods. The ceremony was kicked off with a drum line marching and performing down the aisle, and various other groups performed throughout the ceremony. While my award was small and I was just asked to stand when my name was called out, it was neat to see how many wonderful teachers and staff members I work with in CMS.

12 Week Check

Well we went to the 12 week check up today. It went well. The baby's heart beat is running a solid 159 beats per minute and everything checked out well.

I also learned everything that goes down in a female check up and man it isn't pretty. If you are a guy, I recommend leaving at certain points.
